The cars were originally painted red orange and black and assigned to the Coast Daylight. Later the cars were repainted and used in different trains such as the Lark and Golden State. Some cars recieved Southern Pacific’s general service scheme of silver with a red band. These cars could be found in general passenger service until the advent of Amtrak.
