A woodchip car has been repurposed as a STRASBURG RAIL ROAD Tobacco Leaf car. Lancaster, Pennsylvania is a large producer of tobacco leaf and in the 1940's era the tobacco leaf product perhaps needed transportation to the Virginia tobacco companies. The PENNSYLVANIA Railroad interchanged with the STRASBURG RAIL ROAD and a quick route through Baltimore, Maryland and down the Del-Marva Peninsula with a car ferry ride to Virginia would have allowed a possible swift delivery of tobacco leaf products to the Virginia mainland.
