On30 Scale (1:48), otherwise known as O Scale Narrow Gauge, is a subcategory of O scale trains. On30 trains are the same scale and size as O scale trains, but they operate on different track. On30 trains run on track whose rails are more narrowly distanced from each other than rails on O scale, or standard gauge, track. In fact, On30 trains run on HO scale standard gauge track! These trains are therefore able to operate on tighter radius curves. These types of trains are common for those who model mountainous regions, Western shortlines, or railroads otherwise constrained by extreme locations.
